Today is Valentines Day…. a day that we make and effort to express our love maybe in a way that is more noticeable to those we care for.
As I think about my wife of 27 years, I think of a woman who cares for me unselfishly, loves me in spite of some of my character flaws, and encourages me in areas that she knows I am insecure in. I could not be more fulfilled or satisfied in my relationship with her.
That very thought brings another emotion, and that is gratitude. I am thankful that God has changed our lives to be more like the “One Flesh” that scripture says our marriages should be. Perfect marriage? That will never be possible with imperfect people, but as we try to apply the truths of God’s Word to our lives… I find that we grow closer together every year.
The love that I think about today for my wife makes me more grateful to God who is working in our lives, and helping us to express our love to each other in a much deeper way.
As we celebrate love… let us not forget the greatest expression of God’s love for us.
(John 15:13) Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
